Who are Cranfield Colts?
Cranfield Colts are the biggest sports club in Cranfield village, a rural village in Bedfordshire in the heart of England and are proud to say that we are one of the first clubs in the district to be accredited as an FA ‘Standard Charter’ club. The Colts are run by volunteers (mostly parents of the boys and girls in the club) who want to see children from the village and surrounding area enjoy the benefits of organised and regular football. The club encourages boys and girls to play football and runs both mixed and single-sex teams. There are no formal trials for joining the club. The club runs teams spanning age groups from Under 6 to Under 16. To find out more information about the club please contact the Committee/Managers.
Who coaches the teams?
We are proud of our coaches who are usually, but not exclusively, the parents of the children in each age group. All coaches hold (as a minimum) an FA Level 1 Football Coaching Certificate (usually gained in their first season with the club); an Emergency First Aid Certificate; and Child Protection Certificate. The names of the managers and club officials can be found on the relevant pages.
Where do we train and play?
The Colts train and play at several locations, as we do not have a dedicated recreational area big enough for all of the teams. The younger age groups usually train and play in the Village Park, while the older children are at Cranfield University (Lanchester Roadl or Feddon House), North Crawley Sports Fields.
Which leagues are we in and what are the league formats?
The Under 7 to 10’s (mixed sex teams) are registered to play in the Milton Keynes and District Junior Sevens League. The format for each age group changes starting at 5-a-side at Under 6, and finishing at 9-a-side at Under 11. The games are played in competitive league format at U10 U11.
At under 12 upwards we are members of the Bucks n Berks League where our teams play competitive leagues at 11 a side
We presently have one League girls team at Under 13 and an Under 15s who relish a friendly game.
